“If it isn’t my favorite"hero"! I bet you never thought you’d be called that. I know I didn’t! - Sinclair, Tavern owner.
The Rogue may look like they’ll stab you in the back for some loose change, and they may have at some point, but they are devoted to keeping Arden safe from other dangers. Their employer, Sinclair, trusts them implicitly with keeping the tavern safe, and knows all about their shady past. What that shady past is depends on you, whether it’s a previous smuggling job, previously from another city, or humbler origins in Arden.
Lord of Edges
The Rogue may primarily serve as a damage class, but don’t let that fool you—they can also be a reliable tank with their Shroud ability!
Shroud allows the Rogue to envelop themselves in shadow, allowing them to automatically dodge any damage source once, as well as deal extra damage when active. However, you’ll lose Shroud if you’re hit by any source of damage, so try to avoid that.

Movement is key to a Rogue, as you can’t be adjacent to enemies in order for your Shroud to activate. Some abilities will remove Shroud automatically when you deal damage to grant buffs or debuffs, such as their Sneak Attack ability, which Stuns the enemy after attacking but removes your beloved shadow cloak.
To help the Rogue get the upper-hand (and perhaps set up some backstabbing shenanigans) they receive the following abilities after the tutorial section:
- Slice Twice: Move, hit an enemy twice, then move away or push them to get your Shroud ability. Best of all, Shroud gives you extra damage on that second hit!
- Isolate: Get more movement to find the perfect prey, then deal damage. You deal extra damage if that enemy has no one adjacent to them!
- Myriad Blades: Become an agent of the shadows by attacking, teleporting, and attacking again. Your enemies will never know what hit them.
Balancing between being in the enemy’s face and moving away to activate Shroud is key to a Rogue, but there are always options to get right back in their face! Using the right ability cards can have you dancing between enemies and tanking for your friends without a care in the world.

Once Rogues gain more experience, they’ll be able to add powerful abilities into their arsenal, such as:
- Pennypinch: An ability for your sticky fingers! Move, then attack, which creates gold, attack, create more gold, then move!
- Smoke and Mirrors: You thought the Arcanist made the only decoys? Attack, teleport away, and leave a decoy in your place. They’ll even attack the enemy after you move!
- Soulthieve: Move, then target an adjacent creature with buffs. Steal those for yourself, then deal damage with your new buffs! The more you stole, the more damage you deal!
Of course, taking damage and dealing it back isn’t all the Rogue can do! With some key abilities, they’ll be able to heavily debuff enemies with Blind, Stun, and even Execute enemies!

Shadowy Fate
As the Rogue grows, so do your Fate Card options! While a ton of Fate Cards will help buff the Rogue, there are just as many that focus on survivability and sneakiness!
The Rogue can use Fate Cards to turn their builds into:
- Move and Stab: Give yourself extra Move to get Sneak attack back, or go for a new target mid-turn!
- Decoy Diversion: Create Decoys in your place to confuse enemies or have them attack your foes!
- Your Buffs Are My Buffs: Steal enemy buffs for yourself! They won’t need them anyways.

Ultimate Backstab
The Rogue’s Ultimate Ability, Thousand Cuts, lives up to its name and then some.
This ability grants the Rogue a Teleport next to an unwilling victim, then deals damage! If they’re under 8 health after the damage is dealt, they’ll automatically be Executed. If they are defeated, you can repeat the entire Ability again. Wheeee!

And that’s a wrap on the Sunderfolk Heroes!
